Meet your Apero Team

President of Apero Solutions Inc. and Co-Owner
Joan began her career in distribution in the early 1980’s. She spent 23 years as an end user with a Western Canada HVAC company before migrating into the ownership role for Apero. She has been exposed to several business models and operates on experience and intuition.
Her passion lies in sharing knowledge with those who love to learn. Her best audience is looking for new ways to gain efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity within their business and their environment.
Fun Facts:
Joan is a shoe-aholic and resists rehab because it’s too much fun to have too many pairs. She loves taking easy money from Oscar who doesn’t learn but keeps betting. Seeing Twitch every day at the office is a plus.
A wife, a mom and a grandma, she’s extremely proud to have these roles—because she earned them!

CEO of Apero Solutions Inc. and Co-Owner
Sophy Nathanail has over 30 years of experience in the ERP software and distribution industry. Implementing software solutions in the wholesale distribution industry has taken her to all corners of the world, including the USA, Australia, Europe, North, South, and Central America and, of course, Canada.
Sophy holds a bachelor's degree in education. She began her career in the technology industry writing documentation, which led to roles in software testing, implementing, and ultimately designing solutions that fulfilled client business processes and software requirements.
In January of 2011, with her partner Joan Chambers and an expert team of development and support staff, Apero Solutions Inc. was born.
Sophy resides in Calgary, Alberta with her husband Al. They love spending time with family…especially the grandkids! In her free time, Sophy loves experimenting in the kitchen (as long as Al is taking on clean up duties), summers in her backyard garden, travelling for “fun” and volunteering with numerous charities involving women and children in need. Her current passion is the Canadian Progress Club Elevate, which supports local Calgary charities.
Fun Facts:
Being Nonna to three young grandchildren has become her best exercise and recreational activity to date!

Director of Technology
Darrin Brown has been studying and working in the IT field since 1985 and has built a vast array of experience and knowledge in Unix/Linux, Progress, and many other technologies. He continues to develop in technical related areas, which include product integration, CRM, BI, cloud computing, network architecture, VoIP, and system security/encryption.
Fun Facts:
Darrin makes his home in Edmonton, AB where he resides with his wife and four children. When he manages some free time away from work, he enjoys camping, photography, spending time with family and friends, and studying physics.

Director of Software Development
Oscar Perez is passionate about many things, and technology is one of them. He began his career in software development and software engineering over 20 years ago in the ERP field. He is well versed in project management as well as application frameworks and architecting solutions. The work he is involved with inspires him to greater heights and successful results.
Oscar is an integral part of Apero Solutions’ management team. He was a key player in Apero’s modern rich user interface development, including mobile applications like SalesXpress. Through his knowledge and efforts and with the assistance of his valued team members, Apero proudly accepted the second-place award at the Progress Exchange 2013 Mobile Application contest.
Fun Facts:
Oscar resides in Edmonton, AB and enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He participates in a multitude of sporting activities in his free time.
He entertains the Apero team by losing bets with Joan and is well known for consistently running late.

Senior Software Designer, Developer
Michel graduated in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in computer science and has been working with Apero’s ERP ever since. He has vast technical experience and knowledge with our Latitude ERP and has experience with many other technologies. He continues to lead and develop in technical related areas including multiple third product integrations.
Fun Facts:
Michel enjoys camping and outdoor activities along with spending time with family and friends.

IT Professional Services
Andre LeBlanc has spent his career in IT infrastructure and operations. His range of experience includes system administration, solution architecture, project management and supporting mission-critical production environments. His responsibilities encompass support for Apero developers and business users, as well as our customers. His expertise spans a wide array of technologies and he loves new challenges. However, he will admit that he has a soft spot for Linux/Unix. Andre’s priority is always to provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients.
Fun Facts:
Andre loves Edmonton and often frequents our beautiful river valley for picnics and walks with his family and friends.

Executive Assistant
After obtaining her diploma in business/office administration, Karen went on to work for 20+ years in the distribution industry. She is now the Executive Assistant at Apero Solutions, which has brought her skills to new levels. She has experience in accounting, inventory control, time management (more so for Joan), and much more.
Fun Facts:
Outside of work, she spends time with family and friends, enjoys watching hockey, and taking her dog for walks.

Senior Software Developer & EDI Expert
Tim graduated from DeMonfort University in the UK and has over 25 years of experience as a software engineer. He has coding skills in multiple languages: Progress ABL, Visual Basic/Access, PHP, Perl, C/C++, and supports many databases, i.e. Progress, MS SQL, mySQL.
Tim’s role at Apero includes development and support with many key products including EDI, Pinpoint Interface, Web store, Clippership interface, B/I.
Fun Facts:
Tim is fondly known by his teammates as the Thermostat Ninja – he’s too quick at cranking the heat up to get caught. Tim only appears grumpy in his meet-up picture. His only daughter recently graduated high school and like any dad, he is fighting back tears of pride!

Senior Software Designer, Developer
Randy is the Pinpoint warehouse automation software designer and senior developer.
He wears lots of hats at Apero, which include looking after warehouse RF hardware setup and customization, Pinpoint databases, intersystem communication and coding/customizing the Pinpoint WMS system for Apero’s clients.
Fun Facts:
Randy is known for finding the best internet deals and sharing them with us – we think that he is getting spiffs from the sellers on the side!

Senior Developer
Miguel is a full-stack developer with over 10 years of experience. He has a Bachelor of Technology in computer science. His role at Apero involves designing and developing hybrid mobile apps connected to .NET backend services.
Fun Facts:
He is a nature enthusiast and has a passion for creating YouTube videos for his fans to follow. He has a great love and appreciation for animals and their well-being. Side note: He is a suspect for being the writer of the “Apero News” articles that appear on our office walls detailing pranks and embarrassing moments.

Customer Support & Implementation Specialist
Dave is a Pinpoint Support specialist that came to us after many years of managing warehouses and using Apero’s Pinpoint WMS in a distribution center for 3 years. His experience "where the rubber meets the road" is a huge asset when it comes to helping anyone from end users through to management to get the most from Apero’s WMS product.
Fun Facts:
This overgrown kid is always pranking, riding his mountain bike and playing with his LEGO.

Senior Software Developer
Leya graduated as a software engineer in 1990 out of Havana, Cuba.
As a software developer in the Progress language, she works with product managers and the Apero support department to develop customer-centric solutions.
She assists in resolving application defects and the addition of new enhancements. She uses techniques to create and maintain application components, analyze different coding challenges, and propose efficient solutions.
She is also instrumental in Latitude’s integration to the Cyberquery report tool and Apero’s custom built reports.
Fun Facts:
Leya is a mother of two daughters and married to a wonderful Canadian man for over 20 years. Outside of work, she loves to travel and spend time with her family and friends.
She’s so grateful to live in Canada and have the opportunity to work in this great company.

Fun Facts:
Alison is married to an up-and-coming stand-up comedian who is tied for 1st place for “most amazing man I know” with her son (the balance may tip this year because he’s making her a Grandma!).
Alison is an avid “garage saler” and treasure restoration enthusiast. She groans, staggers and dances her way through the annual Zombie Walk and Thrill the World to support the Calgary Food Bank (and her love of all things horror!). She does not consider trendy / buzz words to be a form of serious communication.

Customer Support & Implementation Specialist
Mark has over 20 years of experience in retail inventory management. Prior to joining our team, he worked for an Apero customer who used our Latitude ERP solution to manage their business. He has worked with the Apero support team as an ERP implementation specialist for over 11 years. He loves to help customers and enjoys daily interactions with them. He values the friendships he has established with our customer group.
Fun Facts:
Many people aren’t aware that Mark is a closet comic book geek with a collection of over 1,500 rare and collectible Silver (1960s) and Bronze (1970s) age comics. Mark also sang tenor in gospel quartet for over 14 years and has recorded multiple CDs.
