Meet your Apero Team
Donnie Beer
CEO, WiSys Software & Apero Solutions
Donnie Beer serves as the CEO of WiSys Software and Apero Solutions, both subsidiaries of Valsoft Corporation. With a commitment to driving global operations, he collaborates closely with teams across Development, Finance, Marketing, Professional Services, Support, and QA. In addition, Donnie dedicates time to nurturing relationships with affiliates and customers, ensuring alignment and growth in the companies’ strategic initiatives.
Joining WiSys in 2010, Donnie brought over 20 years of diverse experience in technical consulting, operations, and executive management. He began his journey as a consultant before quickly advancing to Support Manager in 2012, and then Director of Consulting and Support in 2016. His deep understanding of the company’s operations led to his promotion to President in December 2018.
Following the acquisition of WiSys by Valsoft in late 2020 and Apero in late 2022, Donnie was also appointed President of Apero in 2023. His leadership has been pivotal in enhancing operational efficiencies and driving growth for both companies, culminating in his recent promotion to President and CEO of WiSys and Apero in the fall of 2024.
Before joining WiSys, Donnie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems. His career began as a software developer and consultant, progressing to senior management roles, including Director of IT for two publishing companies and Vice President of Operations for a stationery company.
Fun Facts
Donnie resides in Ohio with his wife, where they enjoy outdoor activities, RV travel, and spending quality time with their children and grandchildren. A passionate sports fan, he also relishes a good round of golf.
Bob Hawk
Account Manager
Bob has been with WiSys as the Director of Sales since 2005 and is now Apero’s Account Manager. He comes to us with over 20 years of experience in the ERP software industry. He has worked with a diverse range of clients adeptly helping them achieve their business goals.
Fun Facts
Bob enjoys staying active by cycling and baking sourdough bread. He also loves spending quality time with his two young grandchildren.
Darrin Brown
Director of Technology
Darrin Brown has been studying and working in the IT field since 1985 and has built a vast array of experience and knowledge in Unix/Linux, Progress and many other technologies. He continues to develop in technical related areas, which include product integration, CRM, BI, cloud computing, network architecture, VoIP, and system security/encryption.
Fun Facts
Darrin makes his home in Edmonton, Alberta where he resides with his wife and four children. When he manages to get free time away from work he enjoys camping, photography, spending time with family and friends, and studying physics.

Tara Bain
Finance Manager
Tara’s career started in logistics, first as an analyst and then an auditor in marine transport. She then moved to an over-the-road Project Coordinator role where she grew her account from $3M to $12M in only three years. We are very fortunate she decided to bring that experience and knowledge into the software realm as our Finance Manager.
Fun Facts
Tara served as Mission Chair at her church for 13 years where she headed local, regional, and international mission trips. After resigning as Mission Chair, she conducted a street ministry serving the homeless for 6 years. Active in dog rescue, Tara is always willing to help someone adopt a dog! Tara’s own dogs often make appearances on camera during meetings.
Mark Fleming
Training and Support Manager
Mark has over 20 years of experience in retail inventory management. Prior to joining our team, he worked for an Apero customer who used our Latitude ERP solution to manage their business. He has worked with the Apero support team as an ERP implementation specialist for over 15 years. He loves to help customers and enjoys daily interactions with them. He values the friendships he has established with our customer group.
Fun Facts
Many people aren’t aware that Mark is a closet comic book geek with a collection of over 1,500 rare and collectible Silver (1960s) and Bronze (1970s) age comics. Mark also sang tenor in gospel quartet for over 14 years and has recorded multiple CDs.
Dave Keen
Customer Support & Implementation Specialist
Dave is a Pinpoint Support specialist that came to us after many years of managing warehouses and using Apero’s Pinpoint WMS in a distribution center for 3 years. His experience "where the rubber meets the road" is a huge asset when it comes to helping anyone from end users through to management to get the most from Apero’s WMS product.
Fun Facts
This overgrown kid is always pranking, riding his mountain bike and playing with his LEGO. He is also our official Dad Joke dispenser.
Leyanis Sierra-Garcia
Senior Software Developer
Leya graduated as a software engineer in 1990 out of Havana, Cuba. As a software developer in the Progress language, she works with product managers and the Apero support department to develop customer-centric solutions. She assists in resolving application defects and the addition of new enhancements. She uses techniques to create and maintain application components, analyze different coding challenges and propose efficient solutions. She is also instrumental in Latitude’s integration to the Cyberquery report tool and Apero’s custom built reports.
Fun Facts
Leya is a mother of two daughters and married to a wonderful Canadian man for over 20 years. Outside of work, she loves to travel and spend time with her family and friends. She’s so grateful to live in Canada and have the opportunity to work in this great company.

Tim Abbott
Senior Software Developer & EDI Expert
Tim graduated from DeMonfort University in the UK and has over 25 years of experience as a software engineer. He has coding skills in multiple languages: Progress ABL, Visual Basic/Access, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, C/C++, and supports many databases, i.e. Progress, MS SQL, MySQL. Tim’s role at Apero includes development and support with many key products including EDI, Pinpoint Interface, Web store, Clippership interface, B/I.
Fun Facts
Tim is fondly known by his teammates as the Thermostat Ninja – he’s too quick at cranking the heat up to get caught. Tim only appears grumpy in his meet-up picture. His only daughter recently graduated high school and like any dad, he is fighting back tears of pride!
Randy Glasel
Senior Software Designer, Developer
Randy is the Pinpoint warehouse automation software designer and senior developer. He wears lots of hats at Apero, which include looking after warehouse RF hardware setup and customization, Pinpoint databases, intersystem communication and coding/customizing the Pinpoint WMS system for Apero’s clients.
Fun Facts
Some of Randy’s favourite things to do are paddleboarding, vacationing with his family is warm destinations and playing with his 3D printer!
Blas Hernandez
Senior Software Developer
Blas graduated as a software engineer in Havana, Cuba in 1993 and has been with Apero since 1999. His experience in Progress, Python and PostgreSQL have helped to build and evolve our products over the years. As a highly skilled developer/programmer (Frontend and Backend) he works closely with our with product managers to create solid solutions. He assists in resolving application defects and enhancements for our non-character-based applications. He is skilled at analyzing and creating application components, working through coding / integration challenges and finding effective solutions.
Fun Facts
Blas and his wife are proud parents of two wonderful children but would love to be a Grandpa one day (he does not know what his kids are waiting for!). He is passionate about soccer, the beach and spending time with family and friends over a glass of Cuban rum. He has had the opportunity to spend a short time in Canada and even though he thought the snow was beautiful - there is just not enough sunshine to get him to move here!
Rolando Garcia
Senior Software Developer
Rolando was certified in Computer Sciences in Havana, Cuba in 1982 and has been with Apero since 2005. He is a highly skilled Backend developer/programmer and works closely with the product managers to create effective solutions. His experience in Progress OpenEdge has been invaluable to helping us build and grow our products over the years. Rolando assists in resolving application defects and enhancements for our non-character-based applications. His ability to analyze and create application components, solving coding / integration challenges and finding effective solutions has been invaluable to Apero.
Fun Facts
Rolando (or “Rolo” to us) and his wife love to spend time with his son and daughter and he adores the idea of becoming a Grandfather one day (although the children don’t seem to be in any hurry to make that happen!). He loves to watch American Hollywood movies and French films (and eat chocolate cookies instead of popcorn). Rolo is an avid reader and collector of crime fiction novels, loves going to the beach and watching baseball (he wishes their team would do better so wouldn’t have to watch so much soccer). He is a bit of a foodie and jumps at the chance to try new restaurants.
Andre LeBlanc
IT Professional Services
Andre LeBlanc has spent his career in IT infrastructure and operations. His range of experience includes system administration, solution architecture, project management and supporting mission-critical production environments. His responsibilities encompass support for Apero developers and business users, as well as our customers. His expertise spans a wide array of technologies and he loves new challenges. However, he will admit that he has a soft spot for Linux/Unix. Andre’s priority is always to provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients.
Fun Facts
Andre loves Edmonton and often frequents our beautiful river valley for picnics and walks with his family and friends.
Alison Karas-McQueen
Product Lead
For 25+ years, Alison’s career has revolved around developing and supporting people with technology / process / information management through training, documentation and mentorship. She is a creative soul with a relentless focus on presenting information in it’s simplest form (easily found and understood).
Fun Facts
Her and her husband live for the ridiculous fun, endless snuggles and exhaustion of having grandkids. Alison is an avid “garage saler” and treasure restoration enthusiast. She groans, staggers and dances her way through the annual Zombie Walk and Thrill the World to support the Calgary Food Bank (and her love of all things horror!). She does not consider trendy / buzz words to be a form of serious communication.
